Astraea's Puppies Have Arrived!

Born on Dec. 28 2011, the puppies are now 18 days old and their eyes have just opened. They are beginning to growl and play with one another and explore their whelping box. 

They had their second photo session today.

The girls wanted to go first.

The boys waited in the basket sleeping off their milk binge while the girls had their photo shoot!

No Collar girl says, "See ya later!"

Puppy Obedience Training Tips #1

*Name Game: Here is a game you can play with your dog that is designed to get a quick response - an instant head turn in your direction when your dog hears his name:

• Say your dog's name - when he turns his head say "yes" (or click if you are using clicker training)
• Give him a treat that you are holding against your leg
• Toss a treat away from you and say "Get it!" to set up next repetition
• Keep each session short - no more than 5 X per session - practice 3X day at beginning
• Reward with a treat or toy or alternate between toys and food if your dog likes both

• Never use your dog's name if you are saying "no" to him - his name should always mean good things!
